The first week we'll be preparing you for class observations, sending you out to observe other ESL classes, beginning our own teaching seminars, and showing you around campus. On Friday, we will be celebrating our Independence Day at a large party with all the ELI participants.

   Some of your work for the program will include reading, writing reflections for the class blog, making short presentations and preparing for class discussions. Because American education involves a tremendous amount of student participation, particularly in the seminar setting, you will be asked to "hit the ground running"
    Afternoon seminars will focus on techniques and principles in language teaching, modeling games, understanding American culture, and using resources for the classroom.

STERLING LIBRARY AT YALE

    Cultural outings will consist of a tour of the Thimble Islands, a boat trip around Manhattan, a visit to the homes of two famous American writers, and various other field trips based on the needs and wishes of the students.

   We have begun the blog by introducing ourselves and our summer plans,

   Your assignment: Create a post introducing yourselves. Take your time. Get comfortable. Write. Add photos. Share your dreams. Let us know if you are funny, or serious, or nervous, or gregarious. Ask questions. Sing songs. Play around with 'blogger' and examine the life-altering possibilities. But above all, enjoy yourselves.
    Your adventure begins by entering the 'design' portal in the top right corner of the blog....do you see it up there in black?...good...then start a 'new post'...and you're on your way.
    Your second assignment is due on the Monday we meet you, so take your time and create your masterpiece.
